Secure, Reliable, Recovery. Since 2002
eSilo provides online data backup and storage services. Utilizing secured internet connections to archive files, databases and emails in our world-class data centers. eSilo uses UltraZip compression and is able to reduce backup times as well as overall storage costs for Small, Medium and Enterprise Clients. eSilo backups are automatic, affordable, incremental. eSilo helps in providing you with a solid disaster recovery and business continuity plan. All data backed up with eSilo is transmitted and stored with 256-bit AES Encryption. SmartBit™ by eSilo can restore files to exactly how they were minutes, hours, days, months, years or decades ago.
There is no mystery about whether an organization should backup their data, although how that should be accomplished remains in dispute. One undisputed fact is that vital data cannot remain onsite, thus requiring a means of transport to a second location. The goal is to cost-effectively, securely and reliably transport information off-site to protect businesses from data loss. Recent natural disasters and regulations have made everyone think twice about managing their backups locally.
256-bit AES encryption for all communications and stored data.
Data is Stored at Multiple Data Centers ensuring Redundancy.
eSilo’s UltraZip gets compression ratios as high as 90%.
SmartBit™ Technology Can Restore to Exactly How Files Were on Day "X"
Set and forget it technology. No tapes, no equipment and no hassles.
No licenses, setup charges or software costs. Pay for what you store.
Data Backup and Storage Provider Since 2002
eSilo's backup technology was designed with security as a priority. All data sent to eSilo is encrypted prior to transfer, with a private customer key, and is sent through an encrypted internet connection. We use 256-bit AES encryption for data and communications which is simply unbreakable.
Not only is your information safe from prying eyes, eSilo uses the internet as the vehicle of transportation. This is far more reliable and efficient than other forms transport: such as plane or truck. No one can "steal" your data along the way, like one could if you shipped tapes. Moving at fiber optic speeds beneath land or sea, eSilo secures your data in redundant locations.
The Standard edition is designed to backup mapped drives and is normally used on workstations and laptops, although it can be used on servers. The computer must remain logged in during the backup.
The Server edition can execute backups while the computer is logged out of Windows. It can be used on workstations as well, despite its name, but is more commonly used for servers that remain logged out for security reasons. This edition cannot backup mapped drives.
The Exchange edition is a special Microsoft Exchange plugin that talks directly with the exchange server. You are presented with a list of mailboxes, and their contents, to select for backup. You have the ability to restore individual emails, contacts, calendar entries or any other type of exchange item. The exchange server continues to run while a backup is occurring. There is no downtime.
The Unix & Linux edition has been tested on Linux 2.2 kernels and above. If you have a platform not currently supported, eSilo will assign a software engineer to provide you with an agent. There is no Graphical Interface for this edition. Schedules are conf files and cron is used to fire backups.
Backups and Restores Made Simple by Design.
eSilo has backup agents that provide simple navigation, schedule management and drag-n-drop backups. As shown in the application screenshot, eSilo has a simple file tree interface allowing you to check off the files/folders for backup or restore. Files can also be dragged and dropped between the "Local Files" and "My Silo" trees.
The backup agent applications are normally used to create backup schedules or to perform restores. Backup schedules are what make eSilo hands free. Email backup reports give eSilo users a detailed overview of all agent backups across their storage silo.
The eSilo backup agents were designed to have a very small impact on your computer. A scheduled backup uses about 6% of your CPU and an average of 4 MB RAM. Most customers do not notice when a scheduled backup is running. To avoid fragmenting your disk drive, backup agents do not use your disk drive for temporary storage. Instead, the files to backup are read into RAM, compressed, encrypted and then sent to our Tier 1 data centers.
eSilo offers a suite of server-end licensed software applications allowing you to serve your own backup clients with the optional ability of synchronizing data to one of our facilities or one of your own. Housing your own backup servers allows you to reuse existing storage systems, provides for local (faster) restores and keeps all data within your organization.
SILOServ™ is the heart of the eSilo Backup System. This is the server-side backup application that eSilo backup agents communicate with. Handling All authentication, secure connections, archiving logic, volume management, data warehousing and system logging. SILOServ™ is an extremely scalable application that can serve tens of thousands of backup clients simultaneously.
When you purchase a license for SILOServ™, our server technicians fully administer, monitor, update and support the server for the life of the license. We do all of this work remotely, providing onsite support if purchased, and have technicians on call 24/7 365. From your perspective, an eSilo server is a device within your network that just works; no administration or configuration is required on your end. eSilo can provide the hardware for the server or you can utilize your own. Contact eSilo now to learn more and/or get in touch with a Storage Expert.
SILOServ™ can reuse existing storage within your network as backup volumes. DAS, NAS, SAN or internal storage can be used. Being a heterogeneous application, it can communicate with any device from any vendor. If such storage does not exist, eSilo can provide the required storage or work with you on a storage plan.
SILOSync allows a set of eSilo servers to synchronize data between themselves. SiloServ™ servers are normally configured in sets of two, a master and a remote slave. The purpose is to keep the slave updated throughout the day; similar to replication. The slave is designed to take over as master in the event the master becomes unavailable. SiloSync can also be used to synchronize other data in your network to any location in the world.
SILOManager is used to manage a running SILOServ™ server and as well as displays statistics. Some features are:
- Account listing (reseller enabled)
- Currently logged in eSilo users
- Storage Stats for each account and user
- Billing Information (reseller enabled)
- Log files
- Available storage space on server
- Backup report email displays
- Account creation

An Endorsement for "eSilo",
As a CPA, I understand the value of protecting a company's records, especially those items found on computer hard drives. It is not a question of if data will be lost, it is only a matter of when. Although most companies have historically installed tape back-up systems, it has been my experience that one is never confident that all data can be immediately and easily restored. Bad tapes. bad back-ups, bad timing, bad anything leaves a person extremely uncomfortable. For me personally, if I lost my 1300 page quarterly updated publication Club Tax Book, I lose 10 grueling years of tax research and untold hours of writing.
That was not until I was introduced to eSilo by my highly trusted Computer Tech. With eSilo, I can easily verify what is being backed up, I can easily restore lost or damaged files plus I get a nice e-mail each morning telling me how I did during the previous night's backup. In my professional opinion, failure to use eSilo or an equivalent is tantamount to playing Russian roulette with irreplaceable computer files
Just wanted to drop you a quick note and testimonial about your service. Having been in the data industry for 16 years, I can honestly say your company and process have lived up to your word. Your Windows based platform is the easiest we have ever encountered.
On the occasions where we have had to restore critical files, the process is quick and painless. We like the way your system duplicates our directory structure. It makes recovery so simple, not having to search a tape or restore all the files on tape to recover just one. Additionally, your server holds a retention copy of previous days of data, and within minutes we can restore any file needed.
Finally, we enjoy the ability to control the methods of recovery and backup. This alone, makes your system the best and easiest to use. Once configured, you just forget about it. No tapes to change, no checking ... no nothing. In fact, as one final endorsement we have just ordered a new server for the business and opted for 'no backup tape'.
Keep up the good work and thank you for helping make our job a less complicated one.
Michael J. Kopp
Chief Operating Officer
I wanted to take a moment to thank you for the service you provide. Going the extra mile, by personally configuring our Linux servers for backup, was a tremendous and unusual level of support. Not only did you ease the burden of backup configuration and installation, but you also freed up my time on a daily basis by removing the tasks associated with tape backups.
eSilo has made the management of our daily backups, for all 14 of our locations, extremely simple and effective. The best part is, not having to reply on individuals to remove the data from each location.
I highly recommend eSilo to all IT professionals. Their service and support has been excellent. I would be glad to answer any questions for other considering eSilo as a backup and disaster recovery solution.

I wanted to take a moment to thank you for your excellent offiste backup service. Having my information automatically, incrementallly and securely sent off site each night, makes my job much easier and is a service I can't imagine living without. It is nice to have some relief from our tape backup management.
I highly recommend eSilo as an off site backup solution for any country club or for any business. It is extremely simple to use and requires very little administration.

I can't express in words how important it was for us to have eSilo today. Without your company we would have lost six years of product information, customer addresses, customer emails, customer order information, etc. You guys saved the day and maybe even our company.
We have been using a separate company (not eSilo) to host our website for the last five years and have been paying large monthly fees for them to host the site as well as do a daily backup of our database. They assured us the backup would be there to fully restore all of our data if we ever had a problem. Since we have so much valuable and crucial information we decided to have a second company (eSilo) back up our information offiste - just in case. Thankfully we chose eSilo for that service.
Unfortunately for us that "just in case" day occurred. Our whole database disappeared. Our design guys could not figure out what happened and all they could tell us is that the files were corrupt and couldn't be restored. We called our server company and they too couldn't figure it out. They spent several hours trying to fix the problem and couldn't. Five years of valuable and expansive information had vanished into thin air. The server company uploaded the backup they had, but unfortunately nothing showed up. Our whole database was gone. They didn't have any other backups. This was a sinking feeling you don't ever want to feel.
Panic is an understatement as to what was happening in our offices. We immediately called eSilo to see if they had the backup of our databases. They were lightning fast and so helpful it was just amazing. They were the only ones that understood the critical situation we were facing. They put our database back onto our server within minutes. Lo and behold, just as fast as the database disappeared, all those years of customer information, addresses, emails, orders, etc. were all back on the server.
I can't express in words how thankful we are and the value your company represents to us. If we hadn't used eSilo our business would have suffered immeasurable damage. Had we relied on the word of our server company that their backups were sufficient, we would have lost so much information and revenue it is dreadful to even ponder. eSilo saved us from the disaster. Thank you so much.
Several months ago one of our computer hard drives went down and we lost a lot of critical data. We did not backup these files regulary and had to spend over $600.00 to have a company retrieve these files. After having multiple problems with other backup solutions, we were introduced to eSilo. For the past two years we have been using eSilo's Disaster Recovery Plan, all of our backups have been automatic and completely successful.
I would highly recommend your service to all businesses as it is a valued service.
